MARATHON WEEKEND WITH SAM ADAMS
The 127th Boston Marathon is upon us and with it comes our 11th annual release of 26.2 Brew, the official beer of the Boston Marathon.
The Sam Adams 26.2 Brew is a beer that is special to our brewers and Boston alike. This beer commemorates the running of the Boston Marathon and recognizes the alliance of two great Boston traditions that share a historic connection. Samuel Adams ultimately got its start at the location that so many runners cross the Marathon’s finish line, accomplishing an incredible feat.
We created 26.2 Brew to mark this momentous occasion and to offer a refreshing and sessionable beer that is fitting for a marathon of a day – whether you’re celebrating over the finish line or cheering on your favorite runners. Here at Sam, we’ll definitely be cheering on our very own team of "Brew Crew" marathon runners!
26.2 Brew is a gose style beer that’s brewed with sea salt and coriander for a light body and refreshing finish. It features light cereal notes from malted and unmalted wheat, a soft mouthfeel, and a touch of peppery spice—ideal for post-race celebrations.
While 26.2 Brew is available on draft throughout Greater Boston starting on April 3rd, this limited-run beer will be available in 4-pk cans exclusively at both our Boston Brewery and Downtown Boston Taproom starting on Friday, April 14th. Both locations will have will also have celebrations, and guests can enjoy commemorative pint glasses, paddle openers, and runner swag. Check-out all the happenings below!
MARATHON HAPPENINGS
The Boston Brewery will be celebrating Marathon Weekend with live music in the Beer Garden Friday the 14th through Tuesday the 18th. Our friends from The Hummus Shop food truck and Top Shelf Cookies will also be on-site Saturday the 15th and Tuesday the 18th with hearty, healthy pita sandwiches and 26.2-infused cookies, Left on Boylston. No Joke Smoke will be serving up BBQ on Sunday the 16th and Monday the 17th. Through the Boston Athletic Association, runners can sign up for private runner tours to see the brewery, raise a pint of 26.2 Brew, and take home a commemorative glass with them.
At the Downtown Taproom, starting on Friday 4/14, folks can order a 26.2 pint in our special commemorative glass and keep the glass! This is open to everyone and not just runners so make sure to order a brew quick because once we're out, we're out! We’ll also have Top Shelf Cookies’, Left on Boylston, 26.2-infused cookies that will be baked from frozen. We'll be celebrating Marathon Monday with the band Brick Park performing down in our Beer Hall from 3:30-6:30pm to get the post-race party started and racing legend Des Linden will be joining us on Marathon Tuesday @ 1pm for a special meet and greet in the Beer Hall to celebrate her newest book, Choosing To Run – A Memoir!
